PANJIM: While Congress is set to meet the Governor on Friday to stake claim to form the government, the ruling BJP and its allies questioned the opposition to first ascertain that their all MLAs are intact.
Reacting to the Congress moves, BJP State president Vinay Tendulkar said it is a mockery that a party is waking up after one and half year claiming they are the single largest party and they be allowed to form the government. “This is not how democracy works,” he stated. “I also want to know whether Congress is sure that all their 16 MLAs are intact. Let them first establish that,” Tendulkar said.
MGP, an alliance partner with the BJP in government, questioned whether Congress has 16 MLAs. “Do they have 16 MLAs with them? If yes, then they should parade them before people before going to meet the Governor,” MGP President Pandurang (Deepak) Dhavalikar said.
He said Congress is making a mockery of democracy by trying to stake claim to form the government when the Manohar Parrikar-led combination is stable. Dhavalikar said Congress has missed the bus and can’t reconcile to the fact that they lost a golden opportunity to form the government in the State.
