PANJIM: The five-member expert panel, constituted to inquire into the alleged illegal conversions of land by politicians, including ministers, in the guise of Regional Plan 2021, has apparently wound up its probe in the absence of any documents to substantiate the allegations levied by Goencho Avaaz.
Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vijai Sardesai confirmed that the committee has submitted the report to the government, but said he has not gone through the findings as yet. “Once I study the report, I will let the press know the findings,” the Minister said.
It is learnt that the
committee has submitted an eight-page report to the TCP Secretary expressing its helplessness in continuing with the probe as no NGO came forward to substantiate the allegations.
When contacted, Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik confirmed submitting the report, but declined to state the findings.
The panel had issued notice to Goencho Avaaz asking them to submit documents substantiating the allegations raised. The NGO had replied stating that it has provided all the information during the meeting and it is in TCP data.
