PANJIM: Crime Branch (CB) sleuths on Wednesday busted an online prostitution racket rescuing four women and arresting a lady pimp, running the main operations from Nagoa. CB has not ruled out more arrests.
Tanya Sharma was caught when she arrived at a decided spot at Calangute with four girls, who originally hail from Chandigarh, Punjab, Thane (Maharashtra) and Rajasthan. The victims were rescued and sent to the protective home at Merces while Sharma was arrested. She was thereafter produced before a local court and remanded to five days custodial interrogation.
“The decoy had struck a deal with the person whose mobile number was posted on a website supplying girls for the illicit trade. He (decoy) was routed to Sharma at Nagoa who promised to get the girls near a hotel at Calangute. The team, waiting near the gate, caught her red-handed,” a senior officer said.
The raid led by SP Kartik Kashyap and PI Dattaguru Sawant also came across a shocking revelation that the accused, who claims to be a native of Delhi, would procure young girls from different parts of India to supply to customers for the purpose.
“These rescued girls come from a poor financial background,” an officer said. Sources said that Nagoa locals have come forward alleging that some houses are rented out to a group of girls, whose tenant verification has not been carried out.
The website: www.sooni.in – Goa High Profile has uploaded a number of photos of local and international victim girls, besides contact details.
The website says: “To meet escort ladies it is not something wrong so don’t worry to share it as they are not worse than all other girls and the profession they are practicing (practicing) is normal as everyone else. In our days you can find someone on the web in some of the many websites for meetings so in what we believe is that all websites for those type of services are not worse that the others and our clients should remember that.”
The website claims to supply Goan girls, housewives, high profile escorts and foreigners, all aged between 18 and 28 years. In each category that the website has specified, the pimps charge between Rs 10,000 and Rs 60,000 for a certain duration during the day.
