TCP minsters and Goa Forwrad leader Vijai Sardesai wghose
party fought the Velim election campaign (though unsuccessfully) on the plank
of giving withdrawing serious charges against locals and church leaders,
claimed credit for the government’s decision
“It has been proved again that this Government keeps its
words. I had said that the attempt to murder section against two priests and 20 others accused in the
Velim Church assault case would be withdrawn. The Government moved the
application and the judge accepted it. Our Government of Goenkarponn and the
Chief Minister is of the opinion that religious leaders and priests won’t ever
intent or attempt such a thing. I am happy that the Government has kept its
word. The propaganda that the Government is against the minorities has to
stop,” Sardessai said.
