MARGAO: United Boys of Dando, Colva registered a fluent 2-0 victory over Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda to enter the semi-final of the 6th Cana-Benaulim Panchayat Cup all-Goa inter-village football tournament, organized by United Club Benaulim, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Sunday.
Within seven minutes of the start of play, Fatorda were in deep trouble after goalkeeper Terence Barbosa was sent off for handling the ball deliberately outside the 18-yard box which saw Colva striker Ryan Fernandes’ goal bound shot blocked.
Off the resultant free-kick, Colva surged ahead in the 18th minute through medio Reston Pereira’s close range effort.
Don Bosco had a task in hand but Hanstem Furtado and Francis Andrade wasted decent chances.
Fatorda were still in the match with Colva unable to increase their slender lead.
Colva put the issue beyond doubt five minutes before the final whistle when a long pass from the deep by defender Jesus Cardozo was intercepted well by striker Jovisco Fernandes to send in a rasping drive past the rival goalkeeper.
