MARGAO: The Colva Police have filed an offence against eight individuals in connection with a case of attempted murder at Benaulim. The incident allegedly involved an assault with a wooden club, metal rod, and knife. Five of the accused have been arrested, while two minors, aged 16, have been lodged at Apna Ghar, Merces.
According to Superintendent of Police, South Goa, Sunita Sawant, the arrested individuals include Tyson alias Naser Bin Ahmed Masood, 22, a resident of Benaulim, and originally from Hyderabad, Shankar Gangappa, 20, a resident of Colva, and native of Belgavi, along with Borda resident Akshay Talwar, 21, and Seraulim locals Joel Fernandes, 20, and Cedrick Fernandes, 27,
The complaint was lodged by Maichall Siddi, a resident of Benaulim, and originally from Karnataka. The complaint details an incident that occurred on July 26 at approximately 9.30 pm at Standley Auto Service Centre near Dando Ground in Benaulim.
The complaint alleges that the accused youths abused and threatened both Maichall Siddi and his friend Sayed Ali. ‘Tyson’ is said to have incited the other accused to assault Sayed Ali, who was subsequently attacked with a club, rod, and knife. Tyson also allegedly kicked him repeatedly, leading to serious injuries.
The Colva Police have registered the offence under Sections 109, 351(3), 352 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act. LPSI Varshada Naik Dessai is handling the ongoing investigation.
