PANJIM: Stating that Goa is a step ahead in implementation of National Education Policy (NEP), the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that from the coming academic year onwards, the policy would be strictly implemented at Foundation Courses and higher education level.

Sawant said that though the policy is already introduced at Foundation level, its strict implementation would be done from the coming academic year onwards. “NEP at secondary and higher secondary level would also be implemented from next year,” he said.
Sawant was speaking while inaugurating the National Seminar on Quality Improvement of Teacher Education in the context of NEP.
The Chief Minister said that the syllabus in sync with the policy has already been prepared and teachers are also trained. He said that efforts have been put in by the State government as a result of which Goa is one step ahead in implementation of NEP.
Sawant appealed to all the stakeholders including school management, principals, teachers, students and parents to contribute and help the government in NEP implementation. “It is not just the responsibility of the government,” he said.
The two- day Seminar is aimed at creating awareness regarding various challenges and various ways of implementing NEP – 2020 in Teacher Education. The seminar will serve as a common platform for teacher educators, researchers and administrators to exchange their visions and experiences and offer recommendations for quality improvement of Teachers Education under the ambit of NEP.
The seminar has included nine sessions focussing on topics ranging from Embedding traditional knowledge to Integration of experiential learning to educate and prepare all the stakeholders of Teacher Education for the transformation of the education sector post implementation of NEP – 2020.
