Panjim pay-parking plan deferred

CCP has called an ordinary meeting on Tuesday to discuss the issue

PANJIM: After opposition from BJP-led corporators and municipal market tenants association, the Directorate of Municipal Administration has issued directions to the Corporation of City of Panjim to defer implementation of pay parking plan in the city.
“DMA has issued directions asking to defer the plan at the moment. We called the Mayor (Surendra Furtado), corporators and group leaders to work out modalities, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said on the sidelines of launching the beach cleaning campaign ‘Clean Goa Beautiful Goa.’
Parrikar state that the plan can initially be implemented at one or two streets and extended to other roads over the next one-to-two months.
When contacted, Director DMA Elvis Gomes said that an official communication has been sent to CCP to defer pay parking for some time, as it has to put in place infrastructure before going ahead with its implementation.
CCP has called an ordinary meeting on Tuesday, to discuss the issue.
