PANJIM: Minister for Industries and Social Welfare Mahadev Naik inaugurated the Goa Pavilion at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) New Delhi and expressed happiness with the overall set up of the pavilion and hoped that the new investment policy of the State would attract the right type of businesses to the State.
“We are looking at attracting investment in knowledge-based industry, R&D centres and financial services. Our aim is to create 50,000 jobs and facilitate Rs 25,000 crore of new investment into the state in the next five years. Our aim is to promote sustainable investment in Goa,” said Naik.
The Industries Minister was accompanied by Chairman of Goa IDC & MLA Ganesh Gaonkar, Resident Commissioner of Goa at Delhi Mohanlal, Deputy Resident Commissioner Ms Vatsala Vijayan, MD Goa IDC S V Naik, OSD Ajit Naik, Area Manager Mukund Kaisurkar & other senior officials from Goa. The IITF now in its 34th year is being held from November 14 to 27 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Naik added, “We are committed on allowing the establishment of environment-friendly industries that provide gainful employment to locals, which will lead to sustained development with the participation of the local population. We have also identified the investment needs of the state, prioritize public investments in specific projects, ensure timely clearance of project proposals and review the execution of projects. In a nutshell, Goa is the smartest alternative to any other location in the country.”
Goa has four focus points for IITF 2014, namely, the Goa Investment Policy 2014, promotion of Goa Tourism, two international forthcoming events Exposition of St Francis Xavier and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2014.
The Goa pavilion looked colourful and vibrant. Live performances by Goan folk artists are a major draw. The Goa handicraft section which offers variety of Goan handicrafts items is doing good sales, says a press note.
