Israeli Cos looking at Goa as investment destination: Akov

PANJIM: The Israeli Consul General has expressed the hope that Israeli companies will consider Goa as a destination while setting up operations in India. With the country being considered as a safe bet for high growth in the future, Israeli companies were seriously considering it in their calculations.

These observations were made by David Akov, Consul General Israel based in Mumbai.
On a visit to Goa to explore the possibility of co-operations between Goa and Israel he said his country could offer its expertise in organic farming, eco-tourism, dairy, vegetables, fruits agriculture and rural tourism to the state. He said his country had Centres of Excellence and were helping India extensively in agriculture and it was up to the Central government to decide if such a centre should be established in the state.
The diplomat who is on a two day visit is expected to meet senior government officials during this visit. Akov had visited the state during the tenure of the former CM Manohar Parrikar and this is a follow up to that visit.
Israel, he said had technology which could be showcased possibly in Goa and he expressed the hope that companies from his country could be part of the Make in India initiated by PM Modi. India he said was a country that was seriously being considered as a destination by the Israeli tourist especially those who travelled as a family. With regards to those interested in travelling to Israel he admitted that it was an expensive option due to the fact it had to avoid most of the Gulf region.
Several Indian airlines were considering the option of starting fights but he felt it would take some time before it started.  Tourists coming to his country were always made to feel safe and even if there were problems it would never have an effect on daily life.
He was replying to a question about the safety of tourists especially those coming in from Goa for the holy land tours.
