A ‘vibrant’ opportunity is coming to Goa this week. During October 17-19, over 500 international business delegates and nearly 800 Indian business persons looking for an opportunity to connect with local business will descend on Goa.
It will be an opportunity not only for the state government but also for the business community in Goa to grab this offer.
Vibrant Goa for the first time in the State is looking to create a platform not only for Business to Business (B2B), Business to Customers (B2C) but also for Business to Government (B2G). If cards are played well, the event could help change Goa’s image from just a tourist destination to also a business destination.
The objective of Vibrant Goa is to boost business from Goa through business connections for trade, joint ventures, technical collaborations and to draw investments in the State. The expo will also give local companies exposure at an international level and can be an excellent confidence building measure for entrepreneurs from Goa.
Post the mining ban, the State’s revenue has touched its lowest ebb. It is estimated that more than 40,000 people have lost their livelihood in the State since the mining ban. To make matters worse tourism too is not fetching much revenue. Employment and job opportunities are low and the State government spearheaded by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is taking measures to revive the economy by engaging industry as ‘partners’.
Industry and business associations in the State are of the opinion that this opportunity should not be missed. Chief Minister Sawant taking cue from his predecessor has fully backed this event and has openly supported it on various fora and platforms where he got an opportunity to speak.
Preparation has been on and the logistics involved in hosting such an event is massive.
“It has been an amazing journey from October 2018 to October 2019 of having worked closely with dynamic personalities, government, corporate, SMEs , Team Vibrant Goa Foundation, all business bodies, youth, women, self help groups, etc to showcase the first Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2019 before the world,” said Dr Jagat Shah, chairman, Global Network.
Lisa Ng Ai Kwan, MD of Wellness Consulting Pte Ltd said, “Goa is known as a center for relaxation in Asia. I am excited to attend Vibrant Goa and share my experiences of wellness benchmarks.”
Director of Business Club France Inde Veronique Moncada said, “I am looking forward to meet the youth and businesses in the happening state of Goa during the event with a message of going global and how the cross cultural understanding between France and Goa and also India can lead to increase in trade and investments between the two countries.”
President of the Vibrant Goa Foundation, Rajkumar Kamat said, “the success of any event can only be judged by the achievements made. While we have exceeded targets on two counts, the number of booths and international delegates visiting, we are looking for a substantial business connection taking place during the event. I would like to thank all the business organisation and associations who are associated with us and have backed us fully. Goa must benefit out of this event.”
