Painter, restaurateur, film buff and yes, brand builder, it is quite obvious Sanjay Sheyte lives a very fulfilling life. Hectic no doubt, but one that guarantees him a good night’s sleep every night. The pressures of his various businesses may crush a man of lesser mettle but Sanjay has over the years learnt to live life on his own terms.
His successful advertising business Vinsan world, requires him to travel to Mumbai every week but he ensures his weekends are spent with his family.
Sanjay said “I work very hard and travel during the week but the weekend is for my family. I have been working since the age of 12 when I first spent time in our family restaurant Anantashram in Vasco and the weekend helps me relax and chill.”
A man who looks at the world through the eyes of an artist, he is exploring his potential in his painting as well as in the photography that he loves so very much. A resident of Vasco he has an office at Vasco and ambles into the office at 10.30. In the afternoon he drives down to his Panjim office located at Patto and meets with staff. Later in the evening he drives down to the Hyatt and works out in the gym with his personal trainer.
The business he is in ie creating brands, producing movies means long hours. He has created a small office at home which is used at night after he returns home. He checks office work prepares for the next day, watches a bit of tv at 11.30 and sleeps at 12.30. This late shift he believes was developed from his days at the family restaurant when he would sleep at 3 am.
He loves listening to old Konkani music especially Lorna and Indian classical music. Of course he also listens to some Hindi film songs. His interest in movies however is all encompassing. The man behind the Goa Marathi Film festival and the Vinsan Film Academy he loves the moving image. Loves The Godfather, Mckennas Gold, Vicky Donar along with comedy favourites like Shark Tank. He enjoys comedies though he also enjoys watching Big Boss. Alia Bhatt is a favourite actress tough Amitabh Bachan remains an all time favourite. Sanjay has interacted with his favourite star on various occasions. Varun Dhwan is another actor he admires.
Like many restaurateurs, who can cook very well, Sanjay enjoys simple home Goan food. The more exotic dishes which he cooked earlier are no longer possible because of health problems. Since he travels a lot, food is a problem as he prefers, day fry and roti or that staple of Goan cuisine, fish curry rice. When he does go out to eat he enjoys eating at Edward’s yard in Goa Velha.
As an advertising man with fingers in different pies, he travels extensively. One of the businesses he owns is a travel agency. Over 25 years he has travelled in exchange programmes and loves Venice and Madrid. Rio has charmed him too. His work takes him out and he sadly does not have the time to take a holiday.
Like any Goan he enjoys his football, swimming, tennis and cricket, though his favourite activity is photography. In five years he would like to go into the education sector and a start has been made with the Vinsan Film Academy. He would also like to expand his business to Delhi, Bangalore and Dubai in other entertainment spaces. He also intends to take forward ongoing discussions with a party regarding the manufacturing of a product out of his manufacturing units in Verna and Sancoale. But beyond all this he would like to spend more time with his family, retire and paint more and essentially do what he loves doing.
