A promising start to a tough campaign

FC Goa commenced its campaign in the AFC Champions League with a hard fought goalless draw against AL Rayyan which more than surprised their fans. They were very vocal in their support.

The team stunned their fans with tenacity and determination against a team that was meant to have it easy in this encounter. This performance could perhaps be a precursor to more similar displays from this team.

FC Goa played their hearts out against Al Rayyan. Our defence was very good in tackling the Al Rayyan strikers. Going forward in this tournament FC Goa should look for a shock win against one of these heavyweight clubs. The FC Goa Fan Club welcomed the Club into the Stadium before the match and we will continue to do that to motivate the Gaurs.

They displayed confidence in the second half after learning quickly what it meant to be playing against a quality team. I feel that we are going to improve step by step and get confidence gradually. It is too early to expect high results, but the way our team defended was impressive. I was impressed with the performances of Glan, Keeper, Ishan, Ivan, Donache, Ortiz, Romario, and others. We need to take care not to get yellow cards, please which could hurt us later. Ferrando is appearing to be in the right direction and that’s the best for FCGOA. Our expectations are rising by the day.

As FC GOA fans we wanted them to win but we also knew about the quality of our opponents. In my mind I would still settle for a draw or a good fight and not conceding too many goals. But last night FC Goa proved why they deserved to be in the championships league. They gave a tough fight to Al Rayyan, frustrating them and attacking sometimes. This really raises my expectations for the next match and I’m proud of my team. I was there to welcome the team into the Stadium with the FC Goa Fan Club & will continue to do so win or lose. #VamosGoa

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! The way our boys played throughout the 90 minutes displaying grit and determination was commendable. All thanks to Juan Ferrando who has instilled an attitude where in they can compete at the higher level. There was maturity seen in the tackles, possessions and the way we played. Kudos to Juan and the boys for a wonderful performance and coming away with a crucial point. The road for Indian football is long but the belief is strong. We should keep playing a fearless and attacking brand of football each game and we’ll go far into the tournament. Very proud. Força Goa!

FC Goa was a surprise package yesterday no one thought they could draw a game against a very good team but credit to Juan and his players. All players really fought well. Expectations are really high now from FC Goa but we as fans must not forget the caliber of opponents. Let’s hope for the best in upcoming games.

It was a historic moment not only for Gaurs but for India, as they gave their best against Al Rayyan. Goa not only defended but created spaces to attack. The visitors also had so many chances but Dheeraj came with some beautiful saves. Romario Jesuraj and Jorge Ortiz created many problems for Al Rayyan on both the wings. We would have won the game if referee had given that penalty when Romario’s cross seemed to come off the arm of an Al Rayyan defender in the box. I hope the Gaurs are motivated with their result and get ready for their next game on 17 April against Al Wahda.

I think FC Goa proved many of their doubters wrong by performing valiantly in their first ever AFC Champions League appearance. Many had their doubts when Edu Bedia was named as one of the 4 winners in the squad by Juan Ferrando but he answered his critics by giving a captains performance by controlling the back line. But the standout player for FC Goa was definitely Glan Martins and we expect him to get a national call sooner than later. He has been like a blessing in disguise for our team and that was evident after his arrival into the squad in January the FC Goa midfield has done brilliantly. Keeper Dheeraj and prayers like Brandon, Ivan, Ortiz & Seriton showed their class on the field with an immaculate display of skills. But after this performance the other teams will definitely not take Goa lightly & will come all guns blazing against us. But after what we saw in their 1st match, I think we should be fearless in the field. We have already proved that we can be equals at this level if not a notch better. Looking forward to Saturday now. #VamosGoa

After a 6:0 drubbing at the hands of the UAE, doubts crept in. Are we in the same league or are we trying to punch above our weight. Has ISL added value to Indian football. Well, the boys have made us proud. Vamos Goa.

No doubt a young FC Goa team played their hearts out. Full credit to all Indian players most of whom are below 25 and have little experience of playing at this level.

We surely have hope in the team that this performance will boost their confidence for the rest of the games. All the best to them.

FORCA GOA !

It was nothing less than a gift to FC Goa fans from the players with a top drawer performance against a top Level Asian side which was better than FC Goa in all aspects on paper. With less expectations and a lot of optimism FC Goa fans were overwhelmed by the performance of each and every player individually. With such a great game on the opening day of the Asian fiesta, the fans would have their optimism level on the next level but the expectations should be under check as they are much higher level teams than ISL clubs. But most importantly let’s get behind the players for next 5 matches of the tournament.
