The disruption of social media happened late in the evening and was up
and running before morning. Large part of our business communication today
happens over WA. We also use FB and Insta extensively for marketing. The outage
also brings to the fore the need to have a plan B.

OMG. I enjoy my siesta, then work in my garden and go to my Pharmacy at
around 6.00 pm. So must have missed it. Shows I am not addicted to Social media

It goes to show how reliant we are on platforms such as Facebook,
whatsapp and Instagram. The Outrage seemed unnecessary as these things tend to
happen to even the best of softwares and I don’t see any reason to have an
outrage over it. I mean, we can obviously go for a few hours without uploading
a post or a picture or a reel right?

I didn’t bother much as I use social media for just 1 hour a day &
a social media outage is not a big deal for me. Since the pandemic, my entire
company runs on WhatsApp, but since the outage happened past work hours, it
didn’t affect us either. It was in fact a good break for everyone from mindless
scrolling.

Well it hardly made a difference to me. We should not be too addicted
to these social media platforms that we cannot do without it for a few hours of

Definitely it was an inconvenience for me and many more as we all
depend on social media specially Whatsapp to exchange and share important
information. I managed with my mobile to take up important work but overall I
was relaxed and could spend more time with my Family. It was a very good

Well, being an avid reader I usually found it difficult to finish those
chapters. After the sudden shut down I grabbed my corner with my favorite book
and got indulged as I flipped through the pages. The next thing was watching TV
which was surprising to everyone since usually being so involved in chatting
and scrolling these apps never really showed interest into television. Above
all there was a sense of something unusual happening yet it was peaceful since
many started chatting through Snapchat and text. The shut down did reflect our
addiction to these apps which in a way robbed us.

messaging app on my phone as especially WhatsApp has become a part of
our daily lives, which also shows the adverse effect of our dependence on
social media & how a MNC like Facebook virtually controls or can know so
many things about our day to life. Although social media has more benefits than
cons & even helps many to earn their livelihoods, this has certainly come
as a small wake up call to us. Nothing can beat socialising in person as you
can never fake it in the real world.

I was in Villas at Baga for a Birthday party. Initially I thought it
was a network coverage issue. But then later tried connecting it to Hotel wifi.
Wasn’t working. Thought some issues with wifi. Then started asking to share
Hotspot from others who were there for the party. But then they complained that
their network is also bad as their whatsapp messages were not going. Then I
gave up. Later at night when we sat on the table for dinner, we had a
discussion that youtube and other services were working fine. Only WhatsApp, fb
and insta were the problem. We googled it and we confirmed the news. There were
a lot of messages that were sent to my friends that were pending. But anyway,
as we were enjoying the party our focus was not much on our phones. So, I waited
till the problem was fixed. Till then we had great fun.

It was strange to use the default It didn’t affect me much as after 8pm
I certainly spend time with my family and friends but there been habitual user
of fb and WhatsApp even though I spend time with family and friends have
slightly affected me as there as we have been habitual to check the mobile
phones in between the conversation, I hope this is not a intentional attempt by
the government or by the fb corporation this server down might have allowed
people to spend quality time with there dear ones. As there was complete
collapse this reminded me of the 1990s as there were power failures.

buyers to buy our jewellery. It has also created an instant connection thereby
providing a great deal of customer satisfaction. Since most of our trade and
customer interaction takes place during the day, we were not much affected with
the outage. However; on a personal level, my daughter Trisha Verlekar won
Double Crown in the State level championship in Table Tennis yesterday at
mapusa which was a great news but the same couldn’t be shared to her well
wishers and family members instantly..Therefore it is rightly said “The basic
needs of a man are changing. Conventionally, they were food, cloth, and shelter
but now, we have to add internet, mobile and social media to that list.”

Gone are those days when television, radio n newspaper were the only
means of getting to know something. In today’s world social media is the
backbone for various things for instance I rely on whatsapp for any calls or
texts because living in loutolim a normal call is hard to get through, secondly
fb is a good reminder for birthdays. Infact I missed a very important birthday.
I’m sure a lot of people faced difficulties yesterday due to this problem. The
way things have advanced now, I guess it’s become a need in every house, could
be for entertainment, business etc. Infact I missed a very important birthday
yesterday.
