ANTI-TOBACCO FILM FESTIVAL: A CREATIVE WAY TO GET YOU TO STOP SMOKING

 The Entertainment Society of Goa in association with the Department of Public Health
Dentistry, Goa Dental College and Hospital commemorated ‘The World No Tobacco
Day’ by organizing “The Goa Anti Tobacco Film Festival” on 31st May 2018 at
10.30 am at Auditorium 1, Maquinez Palace, ESG.

The Chief Guest of the function Ashok
Kumar, IAS, Secretary Health, Govt of Goa in his speech quoted “Cinema is a
powerful medium through which audience grasp maximum and it has a big Impact
and people have become aware of the ill effect of tobacco. ESG has taken a good
initiative to explore this medium effectively and bringing the young Goan
talents for social cause.” He also thanked the participants and audience
present.

This competition was held in two sections,
Goa section and National Section.

There was a 6 members jury consisting of
Dr. Jose D’sa, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Lt. Col. DR Parag Prabhudesai, Dharmanand
Vernekar, Sangramsinh Gaikwad, and Sachin Chatte who judged all the entries of
ad films and short films.

The festival that had seen a fantastic
response in its debut edition, received the following entries for this year’s
edition: 17 ad films and 9 short films in the Goa section and 12 ad films and 4
short films in the national section.

The winners were awarded at the hands of
Rajendra Talak, Vice Chairman, ESG, Chief Guest Ashok Kumar, IAS, Secretary to
CM and Secretary Health, Govt of Goa and Ida de Norohna de Ataide, Dean Goa
Dental College and Hospital.

Dr Amita Kenkre Kamat of Dental college
gave the vote of thanks also briefed the purpose of this festival, said the aim
of the Anti Tobacco Film Festival was to spread the message of harmful or ill
effects of tobacco use and also to decrease the occurrence of Oral Cancer in
Goa.

Award
winning films were screened for public.
