The science and math club of St Britto catalysed by The National Council for Science and
Technology and Communication, DST, Government of India, New Delhi, and in
association with the Goa State Council for Science and Technology, Saligao
conducted an inter school visual presentation on the topic ‘Can we make Goa a
Zero waste state?’ Pradeep Morajkar, member secretary of GSCST, was the Guest
of Honour at the event. Nine schools participated in the competition. The
judges for the competition were Miguel Braganza, Dheeraj Chodankar and Dylan
Fernandes. The judges not only scored the contestants on their presentation but
also engaged them in an interactive Q&A session.
The programme began
with a prayer dance. The students also performed a skit based on saving the
environment.

The competition saw
various students present their views with the help of PowerPoint presentations
or other visual aids. All the participants were given medals and certificates.
The teachers that accompanied the students were also given a rose and a
certificate.
The first place was
bagged by St Francis Xavier High School, Siolim, the second place by St Francis
Xavier High School, Mapusa and the third place was by Holy Family High School,
Porvorim. The winners received a certificate of merit, a trophy and cash prize.
The
programme ended with lunch for all the participants. The day was well spent
with young minds presenting solutions towards making Goa a ‘Zero Waste State’.
