Christ the King Sunday, also known as the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, is a Christian Feast celebrating the kingship and the sovereign rule of Jesus Christ over all Creation. It marks the last Sunday of the Liturgical year and prepares Catholics for the season of Advent.
The Feast of Christ the King was celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Church Bicholim with a High Mass at 5pm. Fr Seville Antao was the main celebrant for the Feast Mass together with the Parish Priest Fr Caetano Dourado and Assistant to the Parish Priest Fr Selwino Pereira.
This was followed by a solemn candle-lit procession. On the occasion of Feast of Christ the King, the Blessed Sacrament is taken around in a beautifully decorated vehicle.
In a world filled with division and competing loyalties, Christ the King Sunday reminds Christians to place their trust in Christ above all else and to live as citizens of His Kingdom. It calls us to work for justice, peace and reconciliation and to remember that Jesus reigns not through domination, but through love.
