The parishioners of Parra came together in prayer and joy on Sunday, 12th October, to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary with deep devotion. Preparations began with a three-day triduum, during which different priests celebrated Mass and delivered inspiring homilies. Each evening, little children dressed as angels sang hymns, offering candles and flowers in a heartfelt tribute to Our Lady.
The Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, lovingly known as Mudder Kopel (“chapel on a height”), was beautifully adorned with lights and flowers for the occasion. Two Masses were celebrated on the feast day, with the High Mass officiated by assistant parish priest Fr Benny Fernandes and co-celebrated by parish priest Fr Peter Gama. The choir’s melodious singing enhanced the spiritual atmosphere, while Parra’s Young Boys, the local band, played lively music before and after each Mass, adding to the festive spirit.

The celebrations drew a large congregation, including non-Catholic devotees who joined in the Eucharistic celebration. A small procession around the chapel, led by the main celebrant carrying the statue of Our Lady, was a highlight of the morning.
Although the actual feast day falls on October 7, the parish traditionally celebrates it on the following Sunday to ensure greater participation. Every year, parishioners gather as one family for the triduum and feast.
As October is dedicated to Mother Mary, the celebrations will conclude on October 31 with a parish-wide rosary procession from the church to the chapel, followed by Holy Mass—a cherished tradition that unites the faithful of Parra in prayer and gratitude.
