After being the only Indian singer to win the “Grand Prix” in Germany, in addition
to performing at the International UNICEF Concert in Europe etc, Goa’s very own
Hema Sardesai goes international once again.
The versatile singer of more than 100
Bollywood songs, well-loved as ‘The Awaara Bhavaren Girl’, created history as
she worked with Grammy award winner Tony Mercedes for her latest single, ‘Power
of Love’.

Speaking about her collaboration with
Tony, who is one of the publishers of the Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ worldwide
hit, Hema said it was a fulfilling experience for which she was very grateful.
“Imagine being chosen to be invested in by
one of the most known names in Hollywood, the music Mogul himself, Tony
Mercedes who has worked with the biggest international singers like Toni
Braxton, Pink TLC etc,” added Hema.
Another Grammy award winner also worked on this single – Jared
Lee Gosselin, who is known for his work in ‘Shark Tale’ and ‘Shrek the Third’.
“The most exciting part was when we entered the famous
‘Cycadelic’ studio at Universal City, Los Angeles. We were ecstatic as we
realized that we were actually going to record at the very studio where our
idol late Michael Jackson himself had recorded his songs. You can feel that
sheer joy in our rendition of ‘Power Of Love’, added Hema.
The song is an extremely inspiring song/single, written by
American celebrated song writer, Rion Michael and fits perfectly into Hema’s
sincere wish to make the world a depression-free, strongly positive place.
“It is an endeavour for me to take songs on similar themes all
over the world, to make the world a better place for all,” added Hema
This smash new American debut featuring Indian TV star Mishaal
Raheja was recently released in Manhattan, at a well attended International
press meet.
At the launch Tony said, “I really believe in and respect Hema
not only for the magnificent singer that she is, but the great human being that
she is as well. I have worked with many talented artistes in my career, but
none with a heart the size of Hema’s. Her sincere concern to make the world a
better place to live in for all is not only echoed in her music but in her
life’s journey as a fighter for justice and equality. So it is with pride that
I accepted the challenge to finally complete this historical project with her.

Hali, from New York also spoke at the launch where he said this: “Years back
Hema had been touring several cities of USA to launch Zee TV in America. We
listened to her singing then and we were spellbound and awestruck by her voice.
We knew then that Hema is meant to be rocking America and the entire world. And
rightfully here she is today with her Hollywood single, “Power Of Love.”
“Taking Goa with greatest pride to Hollywood, keeping the
respect of Womanhood at the highest level, through many brave decisions and
many sacrifices and yet walking with humility and gratitude at every step, is
what I truly look up to myself for,” said Hema.
Hema added that she was elated with the response she has received
so far, both in America and back home among her Goan fans.
“I
have seen each and every Goan believing in my talent implicitly since my
childhood. People say there are different communities in Goa. But for me since
always I saw all those communities as one loving force of inspiration, because
from my childhood I have received blessings from each and every Goan equally,
which finally landed me in the biggest coveted arena for any talented artiste,
that is Hollywood of all,” said Hema.
