being assertive and being bossy and rude are two entirely different
things. What we are talking about here is
standing up and speaking for ourselves instead of being people
pleasers or yes men and agreeing with things we within ourselves find
absolutely disagreeable, just to avoid a scenario from becoming
unpleasant. But in the long run, this has a detrimental effect on our
overall sense of well being.

begin to feel unappreciated, taken for granted, misunderstood and
this has a tremendous impact on our sense of self worth.

Assertiveness is expressing your
rights, your emotions, beliefs and what you want in a calm,
unhesitating, self assured manner. It is taking control of your life
and not feeling like the victim.
