Will Jon Snow be crowned king or will the White Walkers rule the
word? Such questions dominate the mind space of quite a few people in Goa. A
group of people who are die hard fans of the English mega serial Game of
Thrones. The seven-seasons have been telecast and the final eight seasons is
set to be telecast later this month. The tension or should we say the
excitement has increased perceptibly for these individuals.
For Diksha Goankar a project assistant at
the NIO, the serial is an intense love affair. Deeply involved in the
intricacies of the various characters of the serial, she has watched all the
seasons and is presently watching season seven whenever she can. For someone
who is involved in serious research work, this is a side of her personality she
says keep her sane. Providing details of the serial, she said there were four
stars left in the show. Given the twists and turns that have been the hallmark
of the serial in the past, she would not want to take a wager as to who would
remain alive at the end of it all. Will the Whitewalkers win and rule the world
or will Jon Snow win and be crowned king. She wound up by saying she was hoping
April 14th would come fast. That is the day when answers to her questions will
start being answered.

There are all kinds of fans. Obviously desperate to the quietly
desperate ones. Those who are waiting for it but also has a life to live.
Chetna Goankar a PHD candidate in Physics is months away from acquiring that
moniker of doctor in front of her name. She however is also a big fan of the
serial. Chetna has read the book which ends at season five. The serial has gone
beyond the plotline. She is waiting for the final season to be telecast which
she will record. Following which she will watch all the seasons over a few days
and satiate her hunger. She laughed and said, she had waited for so long and
she was willing to wait for a few more days. Chetna said she loved the serial
and had read the books obsessively and would now watch the serial with similar
passion.
AjitaDash a corporate lawyer now based in Goa, smiled when she
was asked about the serial. She said “Well I watch it for sure and I am looking
forward to the final season. I have watched all the previous sessions with
great interest. I find it very relaxing and it relaxes my brain. My sister in
fact who is based in Delhi is a intense fan of it. She has read the book and
compared the serial with the print copy which was true till season six. She is
certainly looking forward to the final season. Its good fun and very relaxing”.
Aniket Naik a film director took time off from a tv shoot to
speak about his love for the serial. He said “My obsession or addiction with
serials began with the Game of Thrones. It is great fun. The drama, the
tension, the manner in which it is all presented makes for great viewing. I
love it and I will certainly watch it with interest when it is telecast”.
Perhaps
the final word should go to Deidre Reys who said she was looking u looking
forward to the final season. She has watched all seven seasons and firmly
believes Jon Snow will be king at the end of it all. Time will tell
