“How is the Josh?!”
asked Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to the crowd at the inauguration of the third Mandovi
bridge on Sunday. Team Café went to areas around the bridge and spoke to people
in markets, malls who will regularly use this bridge to literally fly over the

The bridge is
going to be a blessing for many people travelling far away. The four wheelers
will begin taking the route on the new bridge, and it will be a benefit for the
old bridge keeping it clear for the other vehicles to pass. Previously there
was congestion on the road during the construction period. Yes, they should
have had alternative option to travel while building the bridge, as many
accidents and mishaps have occurred in the past. I know a lot of people who
been delayed for their work, lost business and had misfortunes.
Of course we cannot expect less
traffic, but with another bridge it would satisfactorily reduce it. I’m
thankful it’s finally here.
ARCHANA PETHKAR
Earlier there was a lot of traffic around the area, especially
during the construction. I hope that the new bridge will bring positive
outcomes and less traffic. I wanted to walk on the bridge, but didn’t have a
chance. I guess I might have to directly go on a drive on the route. I think
this time the government has sensibly planned out things and the bridge will
benefit all the people travelling from Panjim-Porvorim- Mapusa and other
connected places. I hope it is safe enough though; as people have put their
faith in the government. The people themselves should be careful wile on the
bridge and it has to be made clear to everyone that the bridge is only meant
for four wheelers and heavy vehicles.
ANA LIZA RODRIGUEZ
I expect the new bridge to hold less
traffic; the horrible traffic jams where we had to squeeze ourselves through,
hopefully will be over. As it is roads in Goa are quite narrow, but with the
new bridge it might be an easy job for us to travel. I also feel that not only the
government, even the people should maintain the roads, we have just got a new
bridge, don’t misuse it. Drive safely and take a good advantage of the bridge
but not in a negative way.
MUMTA KALANGUTKAR
I already have a good feeling about his bridge. Few of my
friends had a walk on it, and the atmosphere according to them was extremely
pleasing. You get a 3D vision of the view from high above.
