Over 40 students from the Gurukul Seva Trust in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, expressed disappointment after Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav did not visit them following his release from jail. On February 21, the children had collected money from their pockets, filled a piggy bank, and sent it to Yadav’s ancestral village in Kundra. The gesture was meant as a show of support during his arrest in a cheque-bounce case related to his 2010 film, Ata Pata Lapata.
The students had hoped to meet the actor personally. A 29-second video shared online showed the children saying, “Namaste Rajpal bhaiya, we have learnt that you have returned home after being released from jail. Congratulations to you. We all want to meet you and know whether you received the help we sent. If you did, why did you not respond to our letter? We are upset with you.”

Responding to the children’s disappointment, Rajpal Yadav told PTI that he had not yet had time to spend with his family and was still gathering information about those who helped him during this difficult period. He assured that he plans to meet the children, hug them, and take photographs with them. He added that he views all the children as his own and believes in the guru tradition.
Yadav, known for films like Chup Chup Ke, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Bhoothnath, has since returned to shooting his upcoming movie. The students’ contribution was entirely voluntary and motivated by their admiration for the Shahjahanpur-born actor.
