Carrie Fisher, the actress who was followed with worldwide adulation,
and even with a great local footprint, for her role as Star Wars’ Princess Leia
Organa, has died after suffering a heart attack. She was 60. Fisher was flying
from London to Los Angeles on Friday, December 23, 2016 when she went into
cardiac arrest. Paramedics removed her from the flight and rushed her to a
nearby hospital, where she was treated for a heart attack. She later died in
the hospital.
The daughter of renowned entertainers Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher,
she was best known for her role in Star Wars in 1977, as detailed in her latest
memoir, The Princess Diarist. She was only 19 when the first instalment of the
beloved sci-fi franchise was filmed. In addition to the second and third Star
Wars films, she also starred in last year’s seventh episode of the franchise,
The Force Awakens.

She is survived by her mother; daughter, Billie Lourd; brother, Todd
Fisher; half-sisters Joely and Tricia Leigh Fisher; and beloved French bulldog,
Gary.
Café asks Star Wars fans how irreplaceable Carrie Fisher was to the
franchise, what she brought to the movies and how her death will affect the
upcoming parts of the series:
I think that they’d change the story line so that she doesn’t have play any role in the remaining movies. I doubt that they would replace her with someone else. If they do, it would be very hard to live up to that character.

All actors bring a unique charm and charisma to any role they play. To say that any actor failed in a role they played is an insult to the work and dedication they put in to make each role their own. That being said, Carrie Fisher was a legendary actress and given her reprised role, I don’t think any other actor or actress will be able to do justice to the role she portrayed in the movies.

Carrie Fisher is irreplaceable. Star Wars wouldn’t be the same without a
strong female lead. She was an unwilling sex symbol, but I’m sure that to many
she was also the model of a strong, independent woman. The best example being
the fact that when she’s in captivity, in that famous gold bikini, she doesn’t
just lie around waiting to be rescued from a lecherous giant space slug. She
strangled him to death, and moved on with her life.
