The story revolves around a family wherein parents (Rosario Botelho and Priscila) reside with their two sons. The eldest Watty (Manuel) is married to Sonia (Denzilia Menezes), while the younger son Perry (Ubaldo) shows inclination towards priesthood.
After marriage, the in-laws try to shower all love and affection towards their only daughter-in-law, Sonia. As she is poor and has no parents, the mother-in-law is more considerate towards her, to the extent of sharing all her gold ornaments with her.
Over a period of time, the true nature and character of Sonia get exposed. She begins to hate her in-laws and keeps them at arm’s length. While the grandchild is more affectionate to her grandparents, Sonia tries to take even her only daughter (Sonali Naik) away from them. To get rid of her only brother-in-law, Perry, Sonia has some other wicked plans in mind and she turns successful in her terrifying mission.
But when ill health strikes her husband, Sonia is the only ray of hope, but she declines to assist. Ultimately, who comes to whose rescue is worth the watch in the second half of the drama.
Although the name of the tiatr sounds more of romance and related to youth, friendship and love, it has nothing to do with it. Instead, ‘Flying Kiss’ is a family melodrama wherein the writer, director tries to portray a family picture where each other’s timely assistance can help save a life. It also displays how important ties between all family members, including the in-laws are, for healthy growth of a family.
As guardians, Rosario and Priscila have given a fine performance and they are ably assisted by Manuel and Ubaldo as siblings in the family. Denzilia Menezes appears as the daughter-in-law, sober first and wicked later, and she displays a lot of talent. From rendition to acting, a little more effort and she has scope to climb the ladder of success. As daughter of the young couple, Sonali Naik is at ease with her role and delivers quite comfortably. Xavier de Maina supports the main cast with a small entry as the doctor.
In the comic acts, there’s comedian Dominic who entertains along with Lino, Lanessa and Joylan. They are natural in their comic appearances and carry a good dose of laughter pills with them. Teenager Joylan displays a lot of natural talent.
In the section of songs, Denzilia renders the opening song, followed by solos from Jr Reagan, Saby de Divar, Elias, Rons, Leslie. There’s a duo from comedian Dominic and Lino and a duet from Xavier de Maina and Priscila. There’s also a song from Leslie, Lino, Rons and comedian Dominic, which is entertaining. Among the musicians, there were three trumpeters, whose presence was a waste. Instead, if a saxophonist was added, the overall music would be appealing.
The stage sets have been worked upon by Anthony de Ambaji with Jose Borges as the stage manager and Tony has handled the lights.
