Zambaulim celebrated
the annual traditional Gulalotsav as the village turned pink with the joy and
laughter of the revellers enjoying the festival. Residents of Margao made their
way to pay respect to Lord Damodar as did the entire state of Goa. Rejoicing
with the pink colour in their hands, people fling gulal at the palkhi carrying
the idol of Lord Damodar stationed in the courtyard of Shree Ramnath Devasthan.
Organised by the Mathagramastha Hindu Sabha for over 100 years, the true
essence of the festival is still intact. The annual festival is part of
traditional Shigmo festivities. This year, students of Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s
College and Research Centre, Mapusa provided devotees with an oppurtuntity to
play with eco-friendly natural Holi colors, a green initiative taken up by
faculties and students.and characteristic of their village customs.
