As Goa hails the title for its attractive beauty and favourably preferred destination for rewinding, is the state losing it end over other crucial spheres? Natures lure, over the course has drawn its admirers but are we stuck with the identity of lazy and ‘susegad goenkars’? Is the current and upcoming generation to continue with the trend currently prevailing?
We are blessed to reside among most preferred spots but alongside of our beauty, culture and tradition is Goa competent to race with the progress and development striding on larger scale of the nation? Certainly not!
The crown that we treasure and flaunt around with, is limited with a clear boundary fenced besides. We fail to stand at par with the current progress and upward trend be in any and every aspect of advancement.
To initiate with, evolution on educational front is limited to numbers. We brace our ranking and pass outs every academic year, celebrate foundation of a new institution brace it with arms wide open yet we fail to educate the masses. Our perspective of educating people is limited to mere degree printed on a paper with no substantial assurance of it being able to materialise in future or not. Smallest state of the country currently runs around six engineering colleges, handful of institutes that pass out students with MBA, many other colleges ensuring lead with Masters every single year but all of them holds a common default, lack of placements. Some do possess but the offers made to the student do not match up with the degree that they hold. Necessarily placements cells cannot be blamed as the input provided by our institutes lack quality.
Secondly our laid back attitude seem to take us nowhere around. We walk a step behind irrespective of being alert or not. We work less and rest more which we don’t compromise over. Our afternoon siesta are way more known by the populace thanks to ours being land of tourists.
Our facilities fall apart when it comes to public at large. Though not backward state yet our infrastructure is not yet fully advanced to be at par with the nation. Our roads still need major expansion plans as lanes are way narrow leading to traffic halts. Our public transport is not at all favourable with fabricated bus facilities in towns and even worse position in villages, phony rates laid by the taxi and rickshaw drivers thus leaving us unaided at odd hours.
We are further plagued like rest of the nation on the basis of religion and caste which further has its own divisions and sub-divisions which hold a crucial spot in our hearts. Though we hold merry image of unity on larger scale, we do have our set of presumptions on the above subject which divides us within irrespective of the bind that persist temporarily for the show purpose.
Our shortcomings seem to be saddening but it does persist and has prevailed over the years hopefully will die in near future.
