Vishwajit conveniently forgets that the Outline Development Plans (ODPs) were approved when TCP Minister was none other than Babu Kavalekar and that chairmen of various Planning and Development Authorities (PDAs) were BJP functionaries appointed in such posts for reasons best known to all. It is common knowledge that these chairpersons are mainly responsible for large scale conversions of agricultural land to settlement areas and which is why the green belt in Goa has deteriorated.
We see paddy fields where large concrete buildings have sprung up. Large scale land fillings have been carried out in Taleigao. The hill slopes today have number of housing complexes while mangroves are destroyed to create concrete jungles. Most of Goa’s coastline has been eroded as nobody is bothered to respect the demarcated High Tide Line with starred hotels even encroached beaches and which is what Vishwajit should look into and apply the right correctives by initiating action and restoring all such land to its original glory rather than squabble with his colleague Lobo in the opposition.
While the TCP Minister has been fiercely attacking only Lobo, who now seems to be at the receiving end, the question is what if Lobo does a volte face and starts another battle wherein the rampant corruption that took place in the purchases of medical equipments, medicines and ventilators in the Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim? The unemployed educated youth were disillusioned as various posts, be it nurses, patient caretakers and multitasking in the GMC, IPHB and the Directorate of Health Services were exclusively done to favour candidates from Sattari taluka so much so that BJP Member and now Labour and Employment Minister Babush Monserrate commented that GMC should be rechristened as Sattari Medical College.
People of Goa are enjoying the drama between Vishwajit and Lobo and are asking whether this is the new BJP philosophy that any person who has gone against the BJP will be harassed by taking extreme steps like using Central agencies such as ED, CBI, NIA and Income Tax.
Will the Opposition Leader succumb to BJP’s pressure or will he retaliate more forcefully by countering Vishwajit is the million dollar question and only time will tell.
It is high time for the ruling party to give up this politics of hatred, revenge, rivalry and vengeance and to pursue a path of governance for betterment of Goan society and prove that they are a party with a difference. Vishwajit is forgetting that it is a war between BJP and the BJP itself. Just because Lobo has crossed over to the Congress camp, raising issues against him will be nothing but political vengeance.
Is BJP government talking of ‘Sushasan’ not aware of wrongdoings in its own government? Why timely action against them was not taken during that time?
Is Vishwajit Rane trying to please his political masters by showing one-upmanship against Lobo? Was Vishwajit allocated TCP Minister despite having plum portfolios solely to dig out skeletons from Lobo’s cupboard? What if Lobo in turn starts unearthing several skeletons from Vishwajit’s cupboard? This is nothing but washing dirty linen in public, which is causing embarrassment to the BJP.
