This is with reference to the news item titled “Swami returns, creates another controversy” which appeared on the front page of Herald dated April 4, 2017.
Well, senior BJP leader, Subramanian Swamy whilst speaking on one national channel has reportedly said that the BJP has plans of bringing a strict beef ban in Goa on the lines of other BJP-ruled states. He has also said that Goa cannot be an exception to the case and due to which Goans should slowly learn to stop following all their old-aged traditions. In short, Subramanian Swamy wants all the minorities of Goa to henceforth stop consuming beef permanently just because the BJP at the behest of the RSS wants to ban beef all over India to play its favourite cow politics to polarize the Indian society for the sake of guarantying Hindu votes and to win all future elections. Now, who is Subramanian Swamy to tell us Goans who have been historically living in communal harmony with all others what to eat and what not to eat?
These are the same leaders who have been constantly saying that the BJP has never been playing communal politics to seek votes for the sake of grabbing political power in India and its other states. Now, what exactly is this? Isn’t this communal politics which the BJP is currently trying to play by unleashing such cow politics in Goa/India?
Of course, BJP leaders like Subramanian Swamy are still trying to give their own justifications by saying that the beef ban has got nothing to do with any religion or with the Sangh Parivar’s Hindutva agenda as they claim that they are only concerned with the health of those people who are consuming beef in India. Well, if that is really the case then why are these self-styled health-conscious leaders also not bringing a complete ban on the sale of liquor for damaging heart/liver, soft drinks like Pepsi, Coke, all sweets leading to diabetes and for making thousands of people to practically die at a very early age in our country? Why these born communal/most selfish leaders are hell-bent on selectively imposing total ban only on beef? Why are they indulging in such open double standards in this country?
India definitely needs a immediate break or liberation from known communal parties and leaders like Subramanian Swamy to protect the unity of this country to move ahead in today’s modern times. Leave us alone Subramanian Swamy. We Goans will eat what we want and will keep our traditions always alive/going in Goa, no matter what… Coz we are not hate-mongers who believe in fighting for our own supremacy mixing our religion or stopping the eating habits of others under the guise of defending our own religious sentiments but are descent civilised modern thinking people who believe in living in total communal harmony with everyone as free-born human beings cum citizens of Goa/India.
Yes, we are peace-loving Goans and we are proud to say that we are different, so better take serious note of this Subramanian Swamy and leave us alone.
