Saldanha is a soft spoken and well mannered lady. She does not blow her trumpet or loudly advertise her work. Though she is not our MLA, she has always helped us whenever we took our environment problems to her.
Yes, the BJP got her elected unopposed, because they needed the minorities to vote for them. She is loyal to Goa and to what her husband stood for. Time and again she has been insulted by the big brass of her party and government. She is a widow with no backing, but she has taken all this because she has given promises to her constituents and looks forward to fulfilling them.
The BJP honors women who flirt with fugitives who break the law of the land or submit false affidavits. Or women involved in tender scams. But honest women like Alina are treated like trash. We the women of Goa should stand for honesty, self respect and political probity and teach the BJP a lesson in the forthcoming elections.
