In a historic landmark judgment the IAS Chief Officer at Margao Municipal Council (MMC) ordered to be demolished a structure allegedly owned by the current MMC Chairperson, Gonzag Rebello. That the area currently occupied by the incumbent Chairperson was earlier gifted to the MMC by the builder against whom many cases are pending in the MMC and courts due to his gross illegalities committed in Margao, with the blessings of the city fathers and above is legion.
What was more shameful was that the councilors who rallied behind the corruption of one of their own, protested to demand the ouster of the CO for his upright act thereby irking the citizens of Margao who have been long suffering due to the high handedness of the councilors and the corruption therein.
I hope better sense prevails and the CO along with Margao’s citizens flush out the corruption in the MMC unleashed by the councilors and MMC staff with the blessings of their MLA. The Margao citizens are with you in this Mr CO.
