History shows us that fanatics are found in all societies and all the religious beliefs in the world. Fortunately some societies and religions have disbanded and denounced them from their state and organizations whereas some religions are openly supporting and promoting such fanatics. Their ideology is to see good only in them and in their associations. They are obsessed with that ideology. Therefore, they out rightly deny any good in other persons and other institutions. Peaceful co-existence of various sections of people seems to be a threat to their ideology. With the new dispensation at the centre, some of the fanatics have become more bold and vociferous to project their infantile, unfulfilled dreams with violent means.
Sporadic but systematic attacks against minorities and institutions run by the minorities is one of the methods used by the fanatics to disrupt unity in diversity in India. Now such fanatics are making inroad into Goa. Unfortunately, instead of fighting against these fanatics, some of the elected representatives of the people of Goa are colluding with them and silently encouraging them to disrupt the peaceful and harmonious co-existence of all sections of people in Goa. The citizens of Goa do not need such fanatics because without them Goa has been a model state of unity, peace and harmony down the years.

Environmental disaster
The Goa Government is planning to include Benaulim, Colva, Raia, Navelim, Nuvem, Seraulim & Curtorim into Margao City limits. It’s also mentioned that since the above said villages don’t have any more land for development. …the agricultural lands have to be used for development. Furthermore its said that the panchayats won’t be able to object to it… this is Height of Arrogance by BJP government in Goa.
Goa is already turning into a concrete jungle. They don’t mind finishing the last frontiers of greenery and agricultural lands in Goa. My fellow Goans it’s time to wake up now before it’s too late. .. What more are you waiting for. .. What answers will you give our future generations? Our silence will deprive our future generations of the village experience not to mention the environmental impact this will have on Goa. Goans Get Up And Stand Up For Your Right. ..

Road shows
This is with reference to the Goa CM, Tourism Minister and officials forthcoming trip to Berlin and Milan as part of Road Shows and Tourism Marts.
In the past ministers and MLAs have been grossly misusing public money for undertaking foreign trips. At regular intervals, Goan delegations have been visiting foreign countries on ‘study trips’ or tourism promotional activities. Despite all these visits, Goa has been struggling to solve problems like waste management, improper roads and parking, improper water supply etc.
Goa’s reputation as a safe destination has also taken a lot of beating in recent times. It is high time, the government looks into the wastage of public funds in the name of promoting Goa’s tourism in other countries, and instead concentrate of solving issues that are affecting Goa and Goa’s tourism.

Challenging career
Congratulations on featuring a very important topic on Herald Review “Giving in to the Demand” .
A mother of two young children, i have been in situations especially during shopping, while it can be helpful for the child to learn but most challenging is how to handle when they demand to buy something and you know its not required. Embarassing is when tears roll so much that one would feel the child got a thrashing!
Children are innocent but in this current age, children are like google… they apparently have all the answers not by studying but we don’t realise kids ears are the most utilized. .they hear and play the trump card just when we think they don’t have an answer.
Parenting is the most challenging career which we don’t realise. We need to work with the changing times and giving time to our children is very important. Patience with our children is important, as it helps us to be prepared!

Adeus Catao
My brother of Chinchinim, legend player of football, Catao passes away due to illness at d age of 77.
He was a member of Vasco SC’s legendary striking ABCD quartet of Andrew D’Souza, Bernard Pereira and Domnic Soares. He was the best player of yester year’s.
He has a good cutting in football, that is why he was named as Catao (Cut-ao). And his score of 99%. Catao started his career with St.Bosco High School, Chinchinim. He played for Salgonkar SC, but it was only after joining Caltex SC, Mumbai (1960-1963) that he started making headlines. When he returned to Goa in 1964, he found himself at the door steps of Vasco SC and was the live wire of the legendary ABCD quartet.
With his deatn, Goa has lost a footballer who was of a different genre. God shall give u rest in peace in heaven. Adeus brother Catao.
