After reading your editorial “The anti Mopa movement can’t afford divisions”, advising Fr. Eremito to work with Churchill Alemao, lots of memories came to my mind. My most memorable impression of Churchill Alemao is the time when the entire South Goa led by late Matanhy Saldanha was fighting against the copper smelting Meta Strips company while our ‘Patrao’ Churchill Alemao was holding meetings on behalf of the Jindals against his own people of South Goa.
Finally Matanhy and his associates including Fr. Eremito Rebello won the battle and Churchill miserably failed. Since your editorial itself has said that Churchill Alemao has not been dependable over the years , I cannot understand why you are demanding that Fr. Eremito and the GFDO commit suicide by joining someone like Churchill Alemao. Or are you telling GFDO that the end has to be achieved by any means?
You must be having a very poor idea of Goan intelligence to think that we would knowingly place our future in the hands of a person who has always betrayed the people. Maybe you have forgotten but one of the main reasons the Congress lost the last election was because of the Alemao family and their 4 seats that`s what was the public opinion. Please do not insult Goan intelligence.
