The Catholic Church believes in a miracle if it is spontaneous, irreversible and supported with scientific research where known medical science is unable to explain the cure or incident. There has been news that the image of Jesus Christ had appeared on a banana tree at Colva and later of blood coming from the eyes of the image of Jesus from a house in Utorda. Innocent folk rush to such places hoping for a miracle or just being curious.
The Catholic Church should intervene in such cases so that there are no gimmicks and false propaganda. The texture on the banana tree or for that matter on any tree or surface doesn’t constitute a miracle. It is how one person imagines the scene or picture. There are thousands of trees in this world that appear to look like human or other animals. It is sad to know that some people due to ignorance assume such incidents to be miracles without scientific backing or church acceptance to prove the point. The Vatican is so meticulous and rigorous in verification of miracles that it is in the rarest of rare cases that a cure or incident is classified and designated as a miracle.
The world has progressed in scientific advancement and what appeared to be a miracle 100 years ago is today curable with modern medicines. So, people should hold their breath and let science investigate such phenomena or so-called miracles. Let not emotions control our brain.
