This has reference to the letter to the editor ‘Investigate Calangute panch’s wealth’ by Innocensio D’Souza. This should apply to all the panchas of Goa whose rags to riches story is the topic of discussion in village bars and known to all villagers. This is also an eye opener to villagers how the panchas encourage illegal construction and then use this illegality to help them all their lives . It is time that people realize that corruption starts at the village panchayat level. It is time they elect panchas that have the interest of the village and not their own.
