Work culture in Goa

Migrants are earning more than the local Goans. Unfortunately, wages of migrant workers will keep rising. It is simply a question of demand and supply.

Worse still is the fact that this is a catch-22 situation. If we want wages to decrease, we will have to let in more migrants. The medicine is worse than the sickness.
The only solution is for more Goans to take up these ‘high-paying jobs’ or then  stop griping about migrants. Don’t many of our own Goans in the Gulf  do the same menial jobs willingly because of  good salaries? Migrants are doing the same in Goa.  This may seem unpalatable to us Goans but it is the bitter truth. We simply dislike hard work, but someone has to do it. Take the case of taxi drivers. They spend hours doing nothing. This does not happen anywhere except in Goa. A migrant driver would make 20 short trips instead  of one long trip.We need to overhaul our work culture.
