Holy Cross feast at Velim
MARGAO: The annual traditional feast of the Miraculous Holy Cross at Baradi, Velim will be celebrated on May 3.
On the feast day, Masses will be held at 5.45 am, 7 am, 8 am, 9.30 am (High Mass) and 11.30 am. A drama titled “Ixxtagot” by Roseferns will be staged.
Theft case registered
MARGAO: The Maina Curtorim police on complaint from Fr Gerald D’Costa, Parish Priest of Dicarpale Church have registered an offence of theft against unknown persons.
In his complaint, Fr D’Costa stated that on Wednesday between 2 am and 5.30 am, unknown accused entered the church premises by breaking the window grill and lifted away Rs 3,000 from the donation box and one chalice all worth Rs 3,500. Further investigation is in progress.
Two get police custody
MARGAO: The JMFC, Margao on Wednesday remanded to five days police custody two persons arrested on the charges of forcing a victim into flesh trade at Colva. It may be recalled that on April 30, Colva PI Nilesh Rane-led team accompanied by Auda Viegas rescued a 25-year-old woman from Nagpur and arrested two pimps aged 22 and 21 years who claimed to be husband and brother of the victim.
PI Rane informed that they received a tip-off that a woman was seen soliciting customers in Colva on Monday. The police on Tuesday laid a trap to rescue the victim.
A decoy customer contacted the woman on mobile to meet him at Colva junction on Tuesday afternoon. The woman along with two men arrived at the spot and the police rescued the woman and took the pimps into custody. The victim has been sent to Apna Ghar at Merces.
Goa Beach Grind
PANJIM: Goa Beach Grind, the state’s biggest electronic dance music fest will be held from May 2 to 5, 4.30 pm onwards, at Betalbatim Beach.
It will feature DJ Max Hardcastle, Hardrock Sofa, DJ Diamond and DJ Robert K, among others.
Mass for workers
PANJIM: There will a mass for workers on May 3, at Mary Immaculate Church, Panjim at 1.15pm.
The Mass is being offered by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Panjim.
A priest will be available for confessions from 12.30pm onwards.
