Cuncolim for Cuncolkars

Cuncolim is the land of history. Many great and educated personalities hail from Cuncolim, famous for their leadership qualities.

Cuncolim is the land of history. Many great and educated personalities hail from Cuncolim, famous for their leadership qualities.
Cuncolim remained undeveloped for many years due to MGP rule in Goa. Then we did have an educated Congress MLA from our own land. Although Cuncolim was not developed much, people lived peacefully. Then came the days of development. A person from Varca was elected as the local MLA. Cuncolim developed in many ways, but people forgot ambition of this Varca man behind this development.
Today it is disgusting to see Cuncolim after 6 pm with a large number of migrants assembled at the main circle of Cuncolim. They are considered to be industrial labour, but holding ration and election cards. This is just one cause of our problems.
Lately Cuncolim was in news for the Football Academy. Cuncolkars are being taken for granted. The land belonged to us, and now, without our consent, the land will be given for the Football Academy. But our forefathers will rise up from the cemetery if such a deal takes place.
The politicians are keen to hand over the land to Bharti Football Academy, as this will fetch huge kickbacks to fill their coffers. Why not a medical college? Because a medical college fetches no commission. The people should think of a medical institution or any other educational institution, which will generate more job opportunities. We definitely need an educational institution/medical college.
Our Cuncolkar doctors who have left the land for better opportunities are eagerly waiting to come back to their village to serve the people, but this does not happen due to lack of infrastructure. How many Goan footballers have made football their career? After a few years, a large number have joined cruise liners due to limited opportunities. This is a sincere request to Cuncolkars to show the politicians their place and opt for a medical college.
