Confidence tricksters first gain the ‘confidence’ of the intended victim and then proceed to relieve them of their money, get favours, or rights or whatever. This is a crime and punishable by law.
The present Goa BJP had promised Goans: special Status, good governance, removal of casinos, recovery of land from the Armed Forces in Goa, reduction in fuel prices, settling the MoI in schools, fully for communal harmony and inclusiveness of all minorities, etc.
They offered everything to the Goan Electorate to gain their confidence and in that way got their vote and were elected to power. The Government at the Centre, during this con play, was the BJP. The BJP central leadership camped and campaigned in Goa. They were fully aware of the promises being made including Special status. If they thought these issues were not feasible they should have said so: since they did not they were accomplices to this act. It was a deliberate ploy of getting the confidence of the Goan voters so that they would be voted to power.
However, once in power they proceeded to renegade on all the issues: is this not the crime of a confidence trickster? Is this not punishable by law? Can a ruling Government State lie habitually and get away with it? Who is the Guardian of the Law and what are they doing?
Herald brought out photos of the huge amount of garbage lying post the DefExpo after the passage of 4 days. The Government swears by the Swaach Bharat campaign with the Governor spearheading the same with the backing of the PM to boot. As such there should have been no garbage visible in the first place let alone after 4 days. Even after this there has been no action by the Governor to pull up the organisers. Is this not another case of tricking the common man? Is this not a show? If not then it means the Government can do anything with impunity and only the common citizen is taxed with.
On one hand the Governor wants to give a prize of Rs 1 lakh to the cleanest town/village but is mum when the garbage is due her own Government. She would do well to use the money to set up training facility for her Government. Ditto the nuisance at Calangute grounds by tourists. This is all allowed to go on with complete impunity.
