With rapid strides being made, Artificial Intelligence is on the cusps of replacing a large number of the human resources especially in the Information Technology as well as the Banking sectors as not only mundane tasks will be taken over by AI, but also many skilled services are going to replace humans. AI is also on the verge of taking over advertising, legal services, art, even probably steadily extending its wings into writing e-books, automating medical services which is already being practiced in some advanced countries. In fact, AI will in the medium term replace humans in most fields steadily.
Why is that AI is such a potent force? It is because artificial intelligence programmes are professional repositories now and will become more encompassing in storing and generating a huge quantity of data that could be used in almost all services of human endeavour.
In later stages, AI will replace search engines and is likely to provide tailor made services to all aspects of AI systems to store data in huge quantities and will allow it to supplant humans and the fear is that it will render human participation redundant in very many sectors to the detriment of employment. Though AI is a big threat to employment avenues to humans, it is almost inevitable that AI will be responsible for relegating humans to the sidelines, though it is to be agreed that AI is the creation of man itself and it would be prudent to say that dependence of AI will expand by leaps and bounds and ironically will lead to those who use its capacities to exponentially increase its bottom lines. So far in the past about six months, 538,000 jobs have been lost in the big companies to AI. To give an example it may be stressed that computerization and automation has brought about the `robotization’ of manufacture of goods and providing of services. However, in critical and strategic uses, AI should be sparingly used as it is likely to go out of control and thus in the bargain the insensitivity of AI-driven programmes may not be the best methods of arriving at critical decisions. It would be prudent to limit AI to only carrying out tasks that will not be risky.
The day is not too far when AI will be able to rewrite and compose articles by programmed changes to the text. It is already been proved that AI driven systems are in a position to answer certain exams. With the specialization and refinement of AI, skilled tasks will become the norm then. All will make subjects such as literature, mathematics, chemistry, physics, botany, zoology and several more may be very efficiently and skillfully become the premise of AI. While the benefits could be many, simultaneously the negative impacts could also be manifold. AI and the human intelligence should be used judiciously to provide what will balance the pivot between AI and human intelligence which should be the core for the management of the world. The idea is to have man at the helm of affairs. It is for man to make AI, which is man-made anyway through several compilations and reinforcements to lead to a better world for us to live in. Let man master AI and let man use AI intelligence to improve efficiency.
