The Goa unit of the RSS has reportedly demanded that Costa, who is of Goan origin, apologize to the people of Goa if he accepts to visit the state for the civic reception proposed by the State government. RSS Chief Subhash Velingkar claims that the kind of destruction unleashed by Portuguese on Goan soil was unpardonable and due to which the current Portuguese heads should apologize for their sins as they forced Goa into slavery for 450 years.
Well, I’m really fed up hearing the unseen stories of the past with regards to former Portuguese regime from groups like RSS because the one thing I know about this particular fascist outfit is that it operates only to divide Goa/India communalizing every single issue and by spreading some fictitious one-sided lies or stories against its own citizens based on caste, creed and religion.
Of course, the former Portuguese rulers might have done a few bad things but during their regime, Goa was far safer without any murders, rapes etc and yes, they never sold our land for all the outsiders and builders unlike our own current so-called ‘elected’ leaders.
The former Portuguese rulers have done a hell lot of good things for Goa and Goans. They taught us to think like modern liberals and gave us our own unique identity. They taught us good-manners, gave us new cuisine, taught us how to dress well and yes taught us how to play football and listen to world music. Unfortunately, what great things have all our own leaders been doing for all the Goans since Goa’s liberation? Aren’t they destroying Goa by promoting all types of filthy activities like drugs, prostitution, casinos, EDM festivals in the name of tourism and by auctioning our own precious land for all the outsiders and all the notorious builders in the name of development?
I think that instead of demanding for an apology from Portugal Prime Minister Antonio Costa, we Goans should seriously ask for an apology from RSS Chief, Subhash Velingkar for always working to divide Goans communalizing every single issue and also for acting blind to the ongoing destruction of Goa at the hands of our own elected leaders in Goa.
Yes, leaders who act blind to the ongoing destruction of Goa need to apologize to Goans and not Portugal Prime Minister Antonio Costa.
