India was born in blood at the stroke of midnight on 15th August 1947 following British Government’s decision to give Independence to India on sectarian lines and the country was partitioned into India and Pakistan. This was followed by violent bloody communal riots between Hindus and Muslims and over 2 million people died and hundreds of thousands of families were displaced across the new borders. Our political forefathers then sat together and enacted the Constitution of India which took over 2 years and 5 months. The Constitution of India came into effect on 26th of January 1950 and India became a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic. providing to all its citizens, 1. JUSTICE:- social, economic and political 2. LIBERTY;-of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship 3. EQUALITY:- of status and of opportunity and to promote among them all. 4. FRATERNITY;- assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and the integrity of the nation.
The earlier Congress government led by Dr Manmohan Singh failed to deliver the goods and his governance was marked with corruption in 9 major scams where the exchequer lost thousand of crores of rupees. The present government of the BJP was thus voted to power in May 2014 general elections with high hopes and aspirations with Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India.
Modi has visited more than 12 countries since taking over as the PM. In his speeches abroad he is wooing the foreign investors to invest in India. He plans of building a modern India but he has to stop suppression of the minorities.
We have completed 67 years of Independent India but never before the minorities specially the Muslims and the Christians were targetted and their fundamental rights suppressed. Ban on cow slaughter directly affects thousands of Muslims who are dependent for their livelihood. Consumption of beef affects both the Muslims and Christians. Since Modi sarkar came to power, party workers have become boisterous, ministers make unwanted undemocratic racial remarks. This is a bad situation which should not spread across the country it may spiral out of control and there may be communal riots for which the minorities will be at the receiving end and the ghost of communal bloody riots as in 1947 may reappear. Before that happens it is time for Modi to act as per the Constitution. If there are communal riots, the Arab world will not be mere spectators, they may refuse all important export of oil to India. The western nations may refuse to accept our exports and ban all their exports into India.
