Authorities in Assam handed over the second autopsy report of singer Zubeen Garg to his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, as the state CID intensified its investigation into his death in Singapore last month. The report was personally delivered by an officer from the CID’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Garima’s residence in Kahilipara, Guwahati.
This handover came two days after she received the first post-mortem report conducted in Singapore, where the 52-year-old singer died under what authorities described as “mysterious circumstances.” Additional Superintendent of Police Moramee Das confirmed that statements from both Garima and Garg’s younger sister, Dr Palmi Borthakur, had been formally recorded, though details remain confidential.

The SIT continued questioning individuals connected to the 4th NorthEast India Festival in Singapore, which Garg had attended. Arrested festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, along with Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma and two band members, remain in custody as investigators probe inconsistencies in their statements.
In addition to the criminal investigation, the Assam government has set up a one-man judicial commission to independently examine the events leading to Garg’s death.
