Delhi Environment and Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday ordered the closure of all illegal industries in the national capital and issued a strong warning to private companies flouting the government’s work-from-home (WFH) directives under GRAP-4 pollution control measures.
Addressing a press conference, Sirsa said the government had received information that several private firms were not complying with the mandatory guidelines. “It has come to light that some private companies are not following these directions. All such companies are advised to strictly adhere to the GRAP-4 rules. Any complaint against a private company will invite the strictest possible action,” he warned.

The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is an emergency framework implemented to combat rising air pollution levels, with measures triggered based on the Air Quality Index (AQI). The most stringent GRAP-4 stage, which comes into force when AQI levels approach 400, mandates steps such as work-from-home for employees in both private and government offices, along with restrictions on polluting activities.
During his interaction with mediapersons, Sirsa also outlined the government’s upcoming crackdown on illegal industrial units operating in the city. He said enforcement agencies have been directed to take decisive action against violators as part of the Delhi government’s efforts to curb pollution and safeguard public health.
The minister reiterated that compliance with GRAP-4 measures is non-negotiable and urged industries and private companies to cooperate fully in implementing pollution-control norms.
