External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has reiterated India’s support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, saying durable and lasting peace in West Asia requires the establishment of separate Israeli and Palestinian states.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Saturday, Jaishankar said, “We strongly believe that a durable and lasting peace requires a two-state solution.”

He also highlighted India’s humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people amid the ongoing conflict. “In the meantime, India is contributing to humanitarian assistance and relief efforts for the Palestinian people,” he said.
India has consistently supported the creation of a sovereign, independent and viable State of Palestine within secure and recognised borders, living peacefully alongside Israel. New Delhi has also backed Palestine’s membership of the United Nations while condemning the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel and the subsequent loss of civilian lives.
According to the government, India has provided around 70 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Palestinians since the conflict began, including medicines and medical supplies. It also sent 65 tonnes of medicines to the UN Relief and Works Agency and Palestine’s Ministry of Health in 2024.
In his address, Jaishankar called for an end to ongoing wars and said “endless war must now give way to an end to conflict”. He also criticised attempts to normalise terrorism and condemned attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers.
