Man Remanded in Custody After Alleged Rape of Teenager in Paisley Alleyway

A 29-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the alleged rape of a male teenager in an alleyway in Paisley.

Declyn Haggerty made a brief appearance at Paisley Sheriff Court where he faced the allegation earlier. Haggerty did not enter a plea during the hearing. The court committed him for further examination and ordered that he be remanded in custody.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at around 8:15 pm on Tuesday in an alleyway near Meetinghouse Lane. Following the report, police cordoned off the surrounding area as part of their investigation.

Detective Inspector David Hardie expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation during the inquiry.

Haggerty is expected to appear in court again within the next eight days as the case proceeds.
