More than 150 children reportedly fell ill after consuming a mid-day meal at a government middle school in Bihar’s Saharsa district, triggering panic among parents and authorities. The incident took place at a school in Baluaha village, where students allegedly began complaining of stomach ache, vomiting, and fever shortly after lunch. Officials said over 100 children were admitted to Sadar Hospital, while several others were shifted to the Mahishi Public Health Centre for treatment and observation.
Family members of some students claimed that a snake was found inside the container used to store cooked pulses after several children had already eaten the meal. According to reports, around 200 students had consumed the food before the suspected contamination was noticed.
District Magistrate Deepesh Kumar stated that the condition of the children is stable and there is no cause for panic. Authorities have collected food samples for laboratory testing, while an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident.
