Stockholm: A 61-year-old Swedish man has been sentenced to four years and five months in prison after being found guilty of coercing his wife into providing sexual services to more than 120 men through intimidation, threats, and psychological control.
The district court in Härnösand convicted the man of multiple offences, including attempted rape, aggravated pimping, assault, and unlawful threats. The case has drawn widespread international attention due to its disturbing nature and has been compared by some observers to the high-profile Dominique Pelicot case in France.

According to prosecutors, the abuse began in 2022 at the couple’s isolated farm in Kramfors, where the man allegedly arranged paid sexual encounters involving his wife and men who travelled from different parts of Sweden. The exploitation reportedly continued until October 2025, when the woman managed to escape and report the abuse to police.
The court found that the accused exercised extensive control over his wife by threatening violence, administering drugs, monitoring her through surveillance cameras installed around the home, and exploiting the remoteness of their property and her limited social contacts.
Prosecutors told the court that he repeatedly threatened to kill or seriously injure her, including making threats to burn her alive or mutilate her. The woman eventually escaped by using a blind spot away from the surveillance cameras before contacting authorities.
In its ruling, the court stated that the man had manipulated and pressured his wife into performing sexual acts, broadcasting them online, receiving additional clients, and even attempting to involve neighbours and customers in the exploitation. The judges found that he initiated the prostitution scheme and managed most aspects of the operation.
While prosecutors had brought multiple rape charges, the court dismissed eight counts after determining there was insufficient evidence to establish that the woman’s participation had been involuntary in those instances. However, the man was convicted on one count of attempted rape, while three additional attempted rape charges were dismissed.
Along with the prison sentence, the court ordered the convicted man to pay his wife 200,000 Swedish krona (approximately £15,900) in compensation for the harm she suffered.
Swedish authorities identified around 120 men who allegedly purchased sexual services through the operation. However, only 29 were prosecuted. Of those, 28 were convicted for collectively purchasing 56 sexual services. Two received prison terms, while the remaining offenders were handed suspended sentences or placed on probation.
Throughout the trial, the accused denied all allegations, maintaining that he merely helped organise consensual encounters. The court rejected his defence, concluding that he had “ruthlessly exploited” his wife for financial gain.
