₹1 Crore Unaccounted Cash Seized from Bus at Majali Checkpost; Probe on Hawala, Illegal Links

In a major midnight operation, police seized ₹1 crore in unaccounted cash from a private bus at the Majali checkpost on the Goa-Karnataka border. The seizure was made during a routine inspection late Tuesday night.

According to police sources, the cash was found in possession of a Rajasthan-based passenger, who was reportedly carrying the money from Goa to Bengaluru. The passenger was detained for questioning after he failed to provide valid documents or a satisfactory explanation for the large amount.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine whether the money is linked to hawala transactions, tax evasion, or other illegal activities.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Karwar police and the Election Flying Squad, which has intensified checks in view of upcoming polls. The seized cash has been handed over to the Income Tax Department for further verification and legal action.
