Authorities identified several victims, including members of the same family who were reportedly travelling from Murbad to Kalyan. Rescue operations were swiftly launched, with police and emergency teams, assisted by local residents, working to recover bodies from the mangled remains of the vehicle.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, though overcrowding in the van is suspected to have contributed to the tragedy by affecting vehicle balance and control. Traffic on the bridge was temporarily disrupted but was later restored after clearance of debris.
